Warranty and Liability
For the frame, springing and structural craftsmanship of each Ecobalanza piece, we offer a life-time guarantee.
For our latex cushions, in addition to fantastic comfort, our crafting practices are carefully designed to minimize the breakdown of the latex. They are covered by a 10-year warranty with normal use, though it is reasonable to expect them to remain in good condition for 20-40 years. For our kapok-stuffed back cushions, we offer a 5-year warranty with normal use (though we have personal pieces that are nine years old and still in excellent condition). We also cover craftsmanship of the exterior upholstery against defect for 2 years, though we do not cover the fabric itself.
Our pieces are custom made-to-order, we do not accept returns, refunds, or cancellations for anything other than shipping damage or manufacturers’ error once the pieces are in production. At the time that your deposit is paid, you have 72 hours to notify us of changes or cancellation before your piece will enter the production queue. Any order cancelled after 7 days is subject to loss of entire deposit. Any and all changes made to your order after 72 hours of placing order will incur a $250 change order fee per change. Total for change orders will be applied to remaining balance to be paid upon your pieces completion. This excludes structural changes, as we do not allow for structural changes after 72 hours. Upon completion, each piece is carefully inspected and photographed before leaving the studio. We stand behind every piece that we make and will work with you to remedy any issues you may have with your sofa. We reserve the right to determine the best possible solution for any problems that arise.
For local deliveries we will hold completed pieces for up to one week after you have been notified of completion. After one week, Ecobalanza will charge a storage fee of $250 per week until you are able to confirm delivery date and delivery is completed. Please allow a 3-5 hour window for delivery.
It is your responsibility to ensure the pieces you have ordered will fit through all necessary interior structures and into the desired space. Returns due to size will not be refunded. Hoisting, window/door removal, or any other extraordinary measure (as determined by Ecobalanza) necessary to accomplish delivery are undertaken at your own risk. The cost of which is to be paid by you at or before the time of delivery. When furniture is delivered, if you have chosen White Glove delivery, it will be brought into your home, unwrapped, inspected and placed in the location of your choice. If you have chosen Curbside delivery, this service provides delivery of your furniture at the end of your driveway and does not include set up, assembly or removal of packaging materials.
It is your responsibility to stop shipment if at any point you believe damage has occurred to the piece during shipping. We encourage you to call us if you have any concerns during this process. If you refuse shipment, we are able to retrieve the pieces in question and make any necessary inspections and repairs to return them to you in the original condition at the time of shipping.
If you do not refuse shipment, you are accepting the piece as is. Ecobalanza cannot be held liable for any defects found after the shipment has been accepted. We will work hard with you to make sure that even in the case of defects, which do not immediately present themselves, your pieces will meet our warranty standards. We reserve the right to determine the best way to do this. If pieces are determined to be beyond local repair and absolutely must be returned, the customer will receive a refund of 50%, minus shipping in both directions, to cover the cost of labor and restocking materials.
If you have chosen to have your pieces picked up directly at the Ecobalanza studio, your pieces will be inspected on-site and must be declared to be “in good condition” before they can be released to you. Ecobalanza cannot be held responsible for any damage that occurs once the pieces have left our studio. Please note that dye lots can vary extensively from material samples and show room pieces. In the event that the customer is not satisfied with the fabrics they have chosen for their piece, Ecobalanza will offer to refinish the piece. Customer will be charged the cost of materials, labor and shipping. Every piece is made by hand in our Seattle studio, meaning there may be a small amount of craftsman variation with an Ecobalanza piece.
