Our Story
Born from a vision of uncompromising luxury that honors both human health and environmental stewardship, Ecobalanza crafts heirloom-quality organic furniture from our Seattle atelier. Our story is one of unwavering dedication to proving that the finest furniture can—and should—be made without hidden toxins or environmental harm

In 2007, while running one of Seattle's first green home décor stores, Aimee Robinson faced a challenge that would transform the luxury furniture industry: she couldn't find a truly non-toxic sofa that met her exacting standards. Rather than compromise, she embarked on an ambitious journey to create Ecobalanza, a company that would redefine sustainable luxury in furniture making.
"I wanted to see if I could create a beautiful green sofa that is as clean as possible, made with the best materials and using traditional techniques," Aimee recalls.
Her quest led her deep into the furniture industry's supply chain, where she discovered how "dirty" conventional manufacturing had become. While others were content with chemical flame retardants and formaldehyde-laden materials, Aimee spent years meticulously building relationships with ethical suppliers who shared her vision.
Today, Ecobalanza stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment. Each piece is handcrafted in Seattle by master artisans, many of whom began their apprenticeships in their teens and have spent decades perfecting their craft. Aimee's passion for supporting women in manufacturing has led to partnerships with female-owned businesses, including a recent discovery of a women-owned company that produces sofa springs from recycled metal.
"We hand-make green sofas with meaning," Aimee explains. "There is a story to every component." From organic Merino wool sourced from family farms to hand-fluffed kapok carefully inserted into cushion cavities, each material is selected with purpose and handled with extraordinary care. The result is furniture that rivals the finest European antiques in quality and longevity.
"At Ecobalanza, organic is not an option. It is our reason for being."

Aimee's dedication to traditional craftsmanship extends beyond mere aesthetics. "For me, there is tremendous satisfaction in creating a product that adds value and lives on in the world," she says. This philosophy has attracted a discerning clientele who understand that true luxury lies in the intersection of exceptional quality, environmental responsibility, and artisanal excellence.
In an era of mass production, Ecobalanza represents something increasingly rare: furniture made with intention, integrity, and a deep commitment to both environmental and social responsibility. Each piece stands as a legacy of Aimee's vision—one that will enhance homes and lives for generations to come.
